Description:
Supporting our New Product Development team, the NPD Buyer position is a dynamic role within SH supply chain, supporting both research and development and new product teams. The NPD Buyer is responsible for procurement support of current NPD projects, working with limited direction to support all basic aspects of purchasing in conformance with Abbott policies. This position is responsible for executing best practice in purchasing raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.


WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Create and process purchase orders, both direct and indirect, in accordance with documented procurement processes to include standard, subcontract, stock transfer, down-payment, and discount orders.
  • Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventories in support of project demands by working with cross-functional teams to include engineering, sourcing, planning, category, and shipping-receiving.
  • Process purchase requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule, reviewing quotes and acknowledgements for accuracy.
  • Facilitate vendor corrective action by partnering with the program SQE for quality improvement.
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining mutually beneficial long-term partnership with suppliers, enhancing good business relationships with Abbott.
  • Manage orders and RMAs through completion and execute invoice resolution through order closure.
  • Maintain material master data in SAP ERP system & excel
  • Lead special projects as requested.
  • This role also may include elements of planning and project management.

Experience You'll Bring
  • Good working knowledge of Procurement concepts, procedures, and practices
  • General knowledge of SAP ERP system
  • Ability to work on problems of moderate scope, where analysis of situations or data requires review
  • Will perform this job in a quality system environment
  • Working knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures, and practices

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing/commodity management.
  • Experience negotiating terms and purchasing agreements.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
