Buyer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to manage procurement activities for our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, and services—both domestically and internationally—to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery that supports production schedules and quality standards. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity located near Itasca, IL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and procure raw materials, components, and services from domestic and international suppliers to meet production and inventory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure purchased materials meet technical specifications and compliance standards.
  • Monitor global market trends, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical factors that may impact supply chain performance.
  • Manage purchase orders from creation through delivery, including tracking shipments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records in ERP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers as needed.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with international sourcing, including knowledge of Incoterms, customs documentation, and global logistics.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Pay is $27-$37 an hour, depending on experience
