We maintain extensive cross-references for parts that are common with other bus, coach, and cutaway product lines, supported by a robust supply base with established relationships with over 1,000 suppliers. The Buyer is responsible for developing and executing buying strategies to minimize costs, reduce lead times, enhance supplier service, and ensure an effective Source to Pay process. This role ensures that the best total cost is achieved while meeting lead times and quality standards aligned with our customer service objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Manage the purchase order (PO) process from creation through delivery and payment, ensuring timely alignment with demand requirements across assigned supply areas (Parts Inventory, MRO, CSpares, etc.).
  • Provide backup and support to the Buyer responsible for Contract Spares (CSpares).
  • Collaborate with Inventory Planning/Operations Management to maintain adequate stock levels to meet demand.
  • Facilitate quick and accurate responses to internal customers to ensure optimal service.
  • Maintain purchasing databases to ensure data integrity and deliver necessary information to Category Supervisors, Managers, and other buyers.
  • Identify sourcing opportunities and assist in creating plans that secure supply and minimize disruptions according to the category sourcing strategy.
  • Build and enhance professional relationships with suppliers and optimize purchases within respective categories to support business competitiveness.
  • Utilize scorecard tools to analyze Supplier Performance KPIs and work with suppliers for necessary improvements.
  • Assist Category Supervisor/Manager with special projects as necessary.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management experience.
  • Experience in purchasing, negotiations, and MRP.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
