Summary:

Responsible for on-time delivery of raw materials by analyzing past buying trends, sales records, price, and quality of merchandise to determine suppliers value and yield. Assure internal inventory is correct and work with suppliers to maintain accurate supply to support production activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, select, order, and purchase the most favorable price merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other factors primarily through MPW.
  • Negotiate prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise.
  • Interview and work closely with vendors to obtain and develop desired product.
  • Authorize return of merchandise.
  • Evaluates inventor to control levels and conducts cycle counting of inventory.
  • Maintain files and records of materials and prices.
  • Track and expedite the delivery of past-due orders.
  • Meet with supplier representatives to review products, processes, and contracts.
  • Responds and communicates to all other department’s requests.
  • An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Competencies:

  1. Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures/department guidelines/safety rules and regulations.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, supervisor, and customers/vendors as job dictates.
Requirements:

Education Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. 2 – 4 year degree preferred but not required

Job Requirements:

  1. Experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
  2. Must be computer proficient.
  3. Work requires a high degree of accuracy so attention to detail is critical.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.
