Job Description:

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery requirements are met. This role works closely with production, scheduling, and vendor partners to maintain efficient operations and lean inventory levels.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and negotiate pricing with domestic and international vendors.
  • Issue purchase orders and manage all related documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and expedite orders as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, scheduling, and receiving to align purchases with production plans.
  • Utilize ERP and MRP systems for purchase scheduling and tracking.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers for imported products.
  • Maintain safety documentation and support quality assurance processes.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and suggest alternative vendors or products.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, materials, and procurement best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of procurement or buying experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience required (AS400 a plus).
  • Experience sourcing from Mexico preferred; bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, manuals, or engineering specifications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
