Job Description

I hope all is well! We are currently hiring a Buyer to join a Sourcing team at a large Metal Manufacturing company in West Bend. Our customer supports customers in the automotive, industrial, and agricultural industries, working with some of the largest brand names in the space. We are seeking a Buyer to source and purchase raw materials per client requests.



This role supports production by maintaining vendor relationships, tracking inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials. The role pays $80-$85k/year (can be negotiated based on experience) plus year-end bonus, great benefits, 401k, Life Insurance and growth opportunities.



Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures materials are available on time, at the best total cost, and meet quality and production requirements to support our clients operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase raw materials, fabricated components, tooling, MRO supplies, and services
  • Manage purchase orders, confirmations, and delivery schedules to meet production demands
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance (cost, quality, delivery)
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production and planning teams to prevent shortages or excess stock
  • Resolve supply issues, shortages, and quality concerns in a timely manner
  • Analyze market trends, material costs, and supplier capacity to mitigate risk
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records in ERP/MRP systems
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of purchasing or buyer experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.)
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication materials (steel, aluminum, fasteners, machining components) preferred
