BuyerThe buyer supports the supply planning manager in managing the external supply base on assigned commodities to achieve the company’s business objectives. This position will be dedicated to improving our supply chain performance on material for multiple categories. You will be responsible for ensuring that the right materials are purchased, at the right time, from the right supplier. Your efforts will help control the movement of the manufacturing process. Job ResponsibilitiesManage tactical purchasing activities, such as expediting material, past due PO’s, open PO’s, PO confirmations, receiving, and accounts payable related issues.Administers and manages purchase order commitments to designated suppliers to support requirements.Works closely together with other departments such as engineering and manufacturing to anticipate upcoming projects and demands.Analyzes the requirement of the commodity including specifications, preferred supplier, and date the commodity is needed.Aligns requirements and sourcing strategies for new product introductions (NPIs) to ensure uninterrupted material availability, alignment of risk and cost goals.Represents purchasing in design reviews and the product development process.Continuously review the movement of materials and other supply chain processes to identify sources of problems and develop solutions.Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.Provides inventory reports to supply planning / inventory control manager.Experience and EducationCollege degree or industry accreditation in business, supply chain or engineering preferredMust be highly proficient with Excel, highly analytical and have a keen eye for detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively present information to management and suppliersFlexibility – must be able to switch gears quicklyMinimum 3 years of experience in purchasing for manufacturing. Electronics experience is a plusKnowledge of purchasing principles, theories, and processes. Prior experience working with ERP software. AS400 experience is a plus.Lead by example and practice the values of the organization
