Python Developer Location: Akron, OH – Onsite Contract Position Summary The engineer on the Vulcan Development Team supports development and sustainment of Vulcan software tools and automated workflows used by product development to enable virtual simulation and performance prediction. This role blends fundamentals of mechanics with software/workflow engineering to translate customer and internal engineering needs into scalable, repeatable, and supportable solutions. The engineer collaborates with cross‑functional partners to define requirements, implement and integrate workflow components, verify results through testing and validation, and deliver clear documentation and guidance that improves product decisions and accelerates development cycles. Responsibilities This position is responsible for enabling tire development groups to model tire geometry and run virtual simulations by developing, integrating, and sustaining Vulcan software tools and automated workflows. Responsibilities include partnering with product development groups to understand needs and translate them into clear requirements; implementing workflow components (scripting/automation, pre/post‑processing, data handling, and tool integrations); validating workflows through testing and correlation checks; and delivering user‑facing documentation, training, and support to drive adoption. The engineer is expected to review simulation outputs for reasonableness, troubleshoot issues, and incorporate learnings into continuous improvements to the Vulcan platform. The role includes cross‑functional collaboration, occasional customer interactions, and presenting workflow capability and progress at release review meetings. Qualifications Required: FEA and python scripting experience Preferred: B.S. in Mechanical engineering or similar degree & minimum 2-3 years industry experience. Preferred: Software development experience and database experience (GIT, Mongo Db, Javascript, AWS). Preferred: Experience using AI agents, like Claude, in support of code development and code review. #J-18808-Ljbffr
