CAD Designer - SolidWorks (Mechanical Assembly)Job DescriptionDetail-oriented and skilled CAD Designer with proven experience in SolidWorks to join our engineering and production team. In addition to creating precise 3D models and 2D drawings, this role includes maintaining accurate document records, including but not limited to Bills of Materials, Job Routers, and Labor Time recording.Familiarity with Syteline 10 ERP/MRP system is preferred. The CAD Designer reports directly to the engineering manager.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCAD Design (SolidWorks):Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks for new and existing parts, assemblies, and tooling.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturability requirements.Update and revise drawings based on feedback, testing, and manufacturing requirements.Maintain a well-organized CAD file structure and version control within the Document Control System.Cross-Functional Support:Interface with procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth handoff from design to production.Assist in creating manufacturing process documents, assembly instructions, and work orders.Support process improvement initiatives by analyzing labor data and suggesting workflow optimizations.Audits labor time on Job Router documents with actual labor required for assembly.Perform other tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.Qualifications:AS degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related.3+ years of SolidWorks experience in a manufacturing or electro mechanical design for aerospace, defense, military, and high technology markets.Familiarity with electro-mechanical shop processes, materials, and fabrication practices.Strong organizational skills with experience managing timekeeping or production tracking systems.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with time tracking and reporting tools a plus.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Must be a US person.Preferred Skills:Experience with Syteline 10 system.Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.Background in small-batch or custom fabrication environments.Working Conditions: Office/shop hybrid environment.May require occasional time on the shop floor to interface with technicians and gather labor data.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
