Fred Williams, an HVAC mechanical contractor, is looking for a CAD Designer to join our team. In this role, you will prepare accurate, concise, and timely coordinated layout and fabrication drawings for HVAC and Process Systems using Computer Aided Design systems that allow for maximizing profit using improved layout, routing, and interference avoidance.Primary Job Responsibilities:Develop the design and drafting of complex piping drawings given basic information such as P&ID’s, GA’s piping specifications, equipment drawings, etc.Utilize department design and drafting standards.Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.Research of contract drawings and RFI suggestions.Production of coordination/shop/fabrication drawings.Directly manage their portion of job scope.Uses clash detection software during coordination process.Communicate scope and design changes promptly.Attend coordination meetings in a support capacity.All Detailer roles and responsibilities as required.Plan and execute drawings for complex piping systems including Mechanical Rooms, hanger drawings, pad locations, sleeves and insert drawings, final connections, isometrics, and anchors.Coordinate complete systems from underground to roof and understand how each system works.Plan and execute solutions to difficult construction related coordination issues.Interpret multi-level mechanical rooms, underground systems, and distribution systems and develop sketches and or solutions to coordination issues.Intercept architectural and structural layouts to enable competent placement of fixtures and equipment without interference.Attend project coordination meetings.Successfully work with other trades to coordinate/layout projects.Demonstrate the ability to review equipment submittals for the proper size, quantity and arrangement and use this information in the layout and coordination of the space and/or system.Prepare and maintain drawing files, post changes to both coordination and contract documents and initiate RFIs with supporting documentation.Maintain project communication with the construction team.Prepare accurate HVAC fabrication drawings and associated equipment.Prepare accurate and complete bills of material for both fabrication and coordination drawings.Prepare work in accordance with applicable process or power piping codes.With minimal supervision, interpret contract requirements on typical piping construction, including material selection, joining, hanging, test methods, identification of ambiguities, omissions, and conflicts.Adhere to CAD standards as outlined in the CADD file set-up.Generation of 3D models using various programs such as Revit, AutoCad, and Navis, Trimble.Create solutions when coordination issues arise.Accountable for the finished product when dealing with challenging situations.Make suggestions on value engineering items.Additional duties as assignedQualifications:Associate’s degree in CAD technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting or Architecture, and/or a certification with AutoCAD (Autodesk Certified Professional) preferred5-10 years of experience utilizing CAD software in a professional environmentExperience using 2D or 3D designs for complex projectsIdeal candidate will have experience with Autodesk Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Trimble SysQue, and Microsoft Office productsStrong organizational skills and excellent attention to detailAbility to think in a three-dimensional mannerAbility to work both independently as well as part of a team to solve problems.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.Fred Williams offers an excellent compensation package with great benefits.
