Job description: AutoDesk Inventor & Vault Specialist
Summary
This role involves creating, modifying, and managing 2D and 3D design data using AutoDesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault. You will be responsible for the only the projects assigned to you. You will be responsible for ensuring design accuracy, adherence to standards, and efficient data management practices within the organization's product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models using Autodesk 2025 Inventor and Vault software.
- Translate rough sketches, specifications, and ideas into detailed drawings and designs.
- Manage and maintain product data and engineering drawings using Autodesk Vault.
- Ensure proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and material specifications for manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineers and CAD department managers to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with company standards, industry regulations (e.g., ASME Y14), and best practices.
- Create and maintain training materials and provide support for Autodesk software, including Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault, when required.
- Assist in developing and refining complex assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) / Product Data Management (PDM) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) / Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes.
- Create sheet metal components and flat patterns for manufacturing in the latest version of Genius ERP software systems.
- Organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation, ensuring proper version control and traceability.
Qualifications and skills
- Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical design, drafting, or an engineering-related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting or a related field.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault or a similar PLM/PDM system is required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and complex assemblies.
- Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while effectively organizing and prioritizing multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
