Overview

The Calibration Lab Technician ensures that specialized vacuum gauges and leak standards are calibrated and working accurately. Vacuum gauges measure pressure levels in controlled environments, while leak standards are used to detect and measure gas leaks in industrial equipment. Both instruments are essential in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and HVAC industries. 

In this role, you’ll test, adjust, and certify these instruments by comparing them against highly accurate standards in our accredited calibration lab.

If you have a passion for precision technical work, enjoy science, and are intrigued by measurement technologies, this role could be an excellent fit for you! No prior experience with vacuum gauges or calibrated leaks is required, but an eagerness to learn is.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $24 - $27 / hr base rate depending on experience

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Vacuum Gauge Calibration: Connect vacuum gauges to specialized equipment, measure their pressure accuracy, fine-tune settings as needed, and document calibration results clearly.
  • Leak Standard Assembly and Testing: Carefully assemble calibrated leak standards and precision volume devices, measure gas flow rates, make precise internal adjustments, and verify that each device meets exact customer specifications.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Apply your understanding of scientific principles and mathematics to diagnose, analyze, and resolve unexpected calibration issues promptly.
  • Team Communication: Regularly update team members, the Calibration Lab Manager, and the Orders Department on progress, calibration outcomes, and recommended repairs or adjustments.
  • Quality Assurance Compliance: Consistently follow established Quality Assurance Procedures to maintain compliance with ISO17025 calibration laboratory standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Routinely inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain calibration equipment and stands
  • Laboratory Work: Work comfortably in a laboratory environment, applying the scientific method and utilizing metrology tools and techniques

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Associate’s Degree or 3+ years of relevant experience in a related technical field.
  • Math & Science Skills: Comfortable applying math skills and the scientific method to everyday tasks.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic mechanical and electronic skills, including working with tools and simple electrical systems.
  • Documentation Skills: Able to read, interpret, and follow detailed technical documentation and procedures.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Teamwork & Independence: Able to effectively complete tasks both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Able to multitask effectively, prioritize tasks, and cooperate smoothly with colleagues.
  • Physical Requirements: Capable of comfortably lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Metrology Experience: Familiar with precision measurement tools, calibration procedures, or quality assurance processes.
  • Vacuum System Knowledge: Experience or knowledge working with vacuum systems, equipment, or related technologies.
