Autism Project One-to-One Camp CounselorThe Autism Project, a Lifespan PartnerThe Autism Project, is hiring One-to-One Camp Counselors for Camp WANNAGOAGAIN! The One-to-One Camp Counselors ensure the health, safety, and general well-being of campers in a fun-filled summer program. The Autism Projects Camp WANNAGOAGAIN provides a safe, supported, and fun camp experience for children, teens, and young adults with ASD & related social-emotional or communication challenges. Our camp program is designed to provide opportunities for real-life experiences, an environment to learn new leisure skills, and the chance to meet new friends in a structured environment with experienced staff.

Responsibilities: Support campers across settings to ensure a safe and happy camp experience and provide guidance & therapeutic tools as needed to maximize camper experienceEnsure the health and safety of all the children and group staff by using appropriate methods to caution them regarding unsafe practices, behaviors, and conditions. Follow Camp protocols and Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reportsSet and maintain supports for children using positive reinforcement and appropriate materials provided for your campersBe familiar with specific needs as given in 1:1 information packet. Seek out guidance or suggestions from staff as needed to maximize campers experienceAssist in maintaining the necessary records involving attendance and sign-in & sign-out sheets, 1:1 Medicaid SALs (must be 19 or over to sign). When releasing children, ensure that the proper release procedures are followed, and appropriate identification is shownKeep 1:1 materials bag neat and organized throughout the week and have needed items readily available for your camper.

See lead or director for any additional supplies.Report parents or childrens concerns to direct supervisor; complete necessary child abuse report forms as neededArrive prepared for the scheduled shift, prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of program participants with no distractions. Work in harmony and cooperation with staff, volunteers, members of the Autism Project, maintaining a positive disposition, demeanor and attireResponsible for attending and participating in 1:1 staff training, 2-hour staff orientation and camp set upRequirements: Must be 18 years old by the start of camp (July 24)Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder & some experience supporting individuals with ASD, preferredAbility to stand, walk, run and get into a pool with campersInterest & willingness to work as a team member in a rapidly expanding non-profit agency 2024 Camp Dates: July 22-July 26 & July 29-August 2 & August 5-August 9Additional Dates Required: July 17 (orientation) & July 20 (set up day)Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8am4pm & Fridays, 8am-2pmLocation: Kingston, RI Compensation: $17.00/hAPPLY TODAY: Email your resume to afamiglietti@lifespan.org - You will be contacted with additional details.
