Job Description

  • At the discretion of the overseeing clinical provider, in combination with the Porter Cardiology Practice Manager, the Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for the performance of echocardiograms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Maintain echocardiography services in accordance with standards established by the American Society of Echocardiography as well as State and Federal agencies.
  • Daily technical operation of the laboratory.
  • Working with the Medical Director, medical staff and technical staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Perform echo exams on patients as ordered by physicians with first priority given to trauma and critically ill patients.
  • Select proper ultrasound techniques to provide optimum quality ultrasounds.
  • Position and instruct patients regarding procedures.
  • Review and agree to abide by our Compliance Program.
  • Back up studies.
  • Copy studies to disc as needed for review.
  • Adhere to Porter Hospital and Cardiology Department policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain required records, documents, and statistics.
  • Participate in both in-service and out service professional educational programs.
  • Attend cardiology department meeting
