Location: Dover, DE
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital – Cardiac Services
Status: Full-Time (72 hours per pay period)
Shift: Variable (days/evenings/nights/weekends/on-call as required)
Pay Range: $66000 - $99000 Per Year


Position Summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular procedures. This role supports physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures by assisting with catheter placement, imaging, monitoring, and documentation to assess coronary and peripheral vascular structure and function.

All newly hired Cardiovascular Technologists are required to successfully complete a structured onboarding fellowship, which includes supervised clinical rotations within the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and weekly didactic training sessions designed to complement hands-on clinical experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient preparation prior to cardiac and vascular procedures

  • Support room setup and equipment preparation in collaboration with nursing staff

  • Verify completion of required documentation and informed consent prior to procedures

  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures

  • Safely obtain hemostasis following procedures

  • Operate fluoroscopy and X-ray equipment accurately and independently

  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards throughout procedures

  • Monitor and document procedures accurately in cardiovascular documentation systems

  • Assist with procedure room turnover following infection control protocols

  • Administer intracoronary medications per approved protocols

  • Participate in continuing education, in-services, and competency maintenance

  • Maintain required certifications and pursue specialty certification (e.g., RCIS)

  • Perform additional duties within scope of practice as assigned


Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences
    OR

  • Associate Degree or graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or

  • Registered Technologist – Radiography (ARRT RT)

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required within 90 days of hire if not already obtained)

Certification Requirements by Education Path:

  • Graduates of Cardiovascular Technology programs: RCIS required

  • Graduates of Radiologic Technology programs: ARRT (RT) required

  • Required certifications must be obtained within four (4) months of hire if not already held

Experience:

  • Required:

    • Minimum of 18 months of diagnostic radiology experience
      OR

    • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program with a letter of recommendation from the Program Director and Clinical Site Preceptor


Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab

  • Experience with diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures

  • Prior experience in electrophysiology or interventional labs


Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology
    OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
