Job Responsibilities Responsible and expected to perform multiple roles within the cardiac/vascular/interventional radiology lab according to established standards and practices. Participate in coronary procedures, peripheral vascular procedures, interventional radiology procedures, and device implantation. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately prepared prior to the start of the procedure Stocks room supplies and monitors PAR levels of supplies Assures practices and procedures are followed in accordance with current accrediting agency guidelines and recommendations (universal protocol, patient identification, labeling solutions, clean/sterile technique) Participates in departmental staff meetings, performance improvement activities, and other department initiatives Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure Carries out medical/surgical asepsis and demonstrates proper sterile technique during procedures Cross‑trains to all primary functions involved with a case (scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring) for all procedures Explains procedure to patient and gives verbal assurances as necessary Notifies the physician or other nursing personnel when the patient complains of pain or discomfort Always maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for efficiency and follows department standard setup Is responsible for the care and handling of instruments, supplies, and equipment during intra/post‑operative phases Keeps catheters and guide wires flushed and cleaned throughout the entire procedure and disposes of them according to hospital policy Demonstrates the ability to pan the table as appropriate Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high‑risk procedures Operates all equipment safely and correctly Performs periodic equipment calibrations and quality control measures as required Responsible for the operation of x‑ray equipment; follows radiation safety standards Wears a radiation dosage badge at all times; assures other team members wear the badge appropriately Recognizes basic EKG rhythms Maintains accurate records; documents in the reporting system accurately and precisely Adapts procedures to meet the individual needs of adult and geriatric patients for treatment Assists in positioning, prepping, and draping of patients Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy Demonstrates age‑specific skills as required by the position Offers suggestions on ways to improve the operations of the department and reduce costs Attends all mandatory education programs Improves self‑knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements Willing to cross‑train to assist co‑workers better and to provide maximum efficiency in the department Reports equipment in need of repair to extend the life of the equipment Makes good use of time so as not to create needless overtime Qualifications Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiology, or Related Field A graduate of a school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology is required Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Radiology credential required within one year of hire Must maintain BLS and ACLS certification No call Team Player Works well as a member of a group Detail Oriented Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well Dedicated Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity Preferred Education Associates or better in RADIOLOGIC TECHNICIAN or related field.
