JOB DESCRIPTION:

Overview:
Assist in, learn about, and/or perform general cabinetry work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of Housing Facilities. Incumbents in the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Carpenter Apprentice\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" title apply entry level (apprentice level) skills in conjunction with following instructions, technical knowledge, and following established guidelines to accomplish assigned tasks. Incumbents work as part of a team with direct supervision from a senior technician to complete assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in completing cabinet work orders and apartment turns that will require judgment, understanding, and knowledge of the best possible way to make the repairs that are needed.
  • Assist in completing student requested work orders in the appropriate amount of time and in a professional manner.
  • Assist in repairing cabinets and countertops as well as helping make new cabinets and countertops when they are beyond repair.
  • Assist in small tasks such as replacing broken cabinet handles to installing white boards, helping make and installing cork boards, and repairing wood furniture such as a coffee table, barstool, or a desk chair.
  • Assist with all large-scale cabinet projects; this will require the ability to follow very specific instructions including helping cut out cabinets and preparing the cabinet parts for construction and helping build cabinets, countertops and preparing molding for installation.
  • Assist in the installation of cabinets, countertops, and moldings, and being responsible for a specific set of tasks that need to be completed.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Clean equipment, shop area and work site.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Completes trainings, as warranted, to stay current with trade.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of carpentry related experience.
  • High school graduate education level or equivalent.
