Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Carpenter
FLSA: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Facility Operations
BEGINNING: February 2024
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A full contract for this position is 240 days, with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on actual start date.
LOCATION: District Wide
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Carpentry experience required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
- Ability to perform physical labor in hot and cold outdoor environments
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- General Carpentry skills.
- Assembling and installation of playground equipment.
- Removing/replacing sidewalks and slabs.
- Knowledge of flooring material: carpet to VCT.
- Knowledge of fence installation to repair.
- Knowledge of Maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of general dirt work for ball fields.
- Builds a variety of items (e.g. block walls, counter tops, cabinets, shelving, moldings, etc.) for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs.
- Coordinates with assigned foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Remodels office and work space including partitions, paneling, etc. for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient utilization of space.
- Repairs roofs and roof sections for the purpose of ensuring District sites are maintained in a safe working condition.
- Be available for occasional non-work-day emergencies.
- Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Must lift heavy loads and do strenuous labor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must be able to work independently, sometimes with minimal supervision.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administration.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration, and community patrons.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
