Overview Location: Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, Alaska Reports To: Facilities & Maintenance Manager Category: Seasonal | Non-Exempt Salary Range: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOE) Position Summary: The Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry, construction, and repair work across Icy Strait Point facilities and infrastructure. This role supports safe, functional, and visually appealing buildings and guest areas in a high-volume tourism environment. The Carpenter works closely with the Facilities & Maintenance team to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with Icy Strait Point standards. Responsibilities Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, finishing, drywall, siding, flooring, decking, and cabinetry. Construct, repair, and remodel buildings, docks, walkways, guest areas, and employee facilities. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders. Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately. Repair structural damage and address wear caused by heavy seasonal use and coastal conditions. Collaborate with maintenance, marine, and operations teams to support operational needs. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner. Follow all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company policies. Respond to urgent repair needs during the cruise season as required. Other duties as assigned to support operations. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights. Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to power tools, construction materials, noise, and marine environments. Qualifications Minimum of 3–5 years of professional carpentry or construction experience. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Valid driver’s license preferred. Experience working in remote locations or seasonal operations is a plus. Familiarity with marine or dock construction is preferred but not required. Icy Strait Point is a Native-owned and operated enterprise and offers Native Preference under P.O. 93-638. Applicants must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
