Job Summary
PNE Construction (PNEC) a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC Company, is seeking a Carpenter who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service and skills to our company and clients.
Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.
PNE Construction is a full-service design-build contractor that has the capability to design and build many projects. The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining the frameworks and structures of customer site buildings. This role requires proficiency in both rough and finish carpentry and a commitment to high standards of craftsmanship and safety.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers License required and must meet eligibility requirements to be covered under the companys vehicle insurance policy.
- Minimum 5 years experience in rough carpentry required.
- Minimum 2 years experience in finish carpentry required.
- Previous experience working in a commercial construction is preferred, not required.
- Current First Aid certification is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Carpenter possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles as required for job duties, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project layout and dimensions.
- Prepares the layout of the project and estimates height, width, length and other proportions.
- Measure, cut, and shape materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall with precision.
- Assembles all required materials and erect structural frameworks in accordance with project plans.
- Constructs building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
- Inspects and repairs existing framework, structures and fixtures as needed.
- Join materials securely with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives.
- Operate equipment such as levels, framing squares, and survey tools to ensure precision and compliance with codes and standards.
- Works safely at heights using stilts, ladders, scissor lifts and scaffoldings as necessary.
- Plan ahead for project logistics, including material staging and coordination with other trades.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, minimizing hazards and respecting client property.
- Apply safe work practices, following site-specific and company safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, PPE protocols, etc.
- Meets and exceeds client expectations by maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor to clients, trade contractors, and vendors.
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectfully takes direction from the project manager/superintendent.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:
- Move about the jobsite as needed.
- Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.
- Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer and cell phone.
- Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs, working at heights and operating lifts as needed.
- Operate a variety of hand tools
- Out of town travel approximately 50%, overnight stays may be required (company to pay for accommodation and per diem).
- Perform duties in an industrial and/or construction environment, where noise levels are high at times and may involve confined spaces.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain a valid DOT physical examination, including baseline and annual/periodic recertification, as required for the role.
- Must be able to successfully complete baseline and annual/periodic audiometric testing as a condition of employment.
- May be required to meet facial hair standards in accordance with OSHAs Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.34).
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, and successfully complete respirator fit testing.
