Job Description :
The Radiology / Cardiology Cath Lab Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves equipment setup, assisting with various cardiac procedures, recognizing life-threatening arrhythmias, and adhering to infection control protocols. The technician collaborates closely with the clinical team to ensure patient safety and quality care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. An active license and certifications in ACLS, BLS, ARRT, and RCIS are required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Responsibilities:- Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, and stent placements.
- Assist with cardiac implant closure devices, IABP placement/removal, and rotablader atherectomy.
- Set up and maintain catheterization lab equipment and supplies.
- Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias during procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and follow isolation precautions to ensure infection control.
- Document procedures and patient data accurately using Cerner electronic medical records.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Active and valid license to practice as a Cath Lab Technician.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, ARRT, and RCIS.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization labs.
- Proficiency in cardiac cath lab procedures including stent placement, diagnostic catheterizations, and PCI.
- Experience with sterile technique and infection control protocols.
- Ability to recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and life-threatening arrhythmias.
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system.
- Experience working in a Level I trauma center or Magnet hospital setting.
- Additional training or experience in advanced cardiac procedures such as rotablader atherectomy.
- Experience with middle and older adult patient populations.
- Prior experience in interventional cardiac cath labs.
- On-call rotation required, with flexible call frequency based on census and coordinated with a dedicated call team.
- No floating outside scope of practice; role is limited to cath lab duties.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days.
- Must comply with infection control and sterile technique protocols at all times.
- Parking permit required but provided at no cost.
- Work schedule options include 4x12-hour or 3x12-hour day shifts from 06:30 to 19:00.
- Weekend work required 2-3 weekends per contract.
- Block schedule requests may be discussed and accommodated with management.
- Guaranteed hours subject to client call-off policies with possible on-call shifts counting as call-offs.
