JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requisition ID: 2024-44411 Location: US-WA-Tacoma Position Type: Regular Part-Time HR Rep / Recruiter: Colin Mix Contact: Responsibilities Escorts patient and family to and from examination room. Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician. Maintains patient charts and records, and records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician. Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature. Reviews studies with physicians. Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Codes appropriate for services performed. Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action. Maintains laundry for examination rooms. Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies. Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable. Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Follows and complies with safety and security training. Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences. Performs related and other assigned duties as directed. Qualifications Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in pediatric and/or adult echocardiography setting preferred. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Fetal experience is preferred, or training will be provided. Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities. Participates in professional development activities and meetings. Additional certification through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Requirements: Possess or be eligible for certification in adult and/or pediatric echocardiography through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Must adhere with the outlined certification maintenance requirements through ARDMS which includes but are not limited to, renewals, continuing medical education (CME) periods, and compliance policies. Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in an accredited Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in cardiac ultrasound, or completion of an approved cardiac ultrasound educational program. CPR certification required. New graduates of a cardiac ultrasound program who are employed in an accredited facility must obtain an appropriate credential within one year from the date of graduation.
