Certified Nurse MidwifeAt NorthBay Health, the Certified Nurse Midwife supports the NorthBay Obstetrics and Gynecology department in providing low risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care, pre-conception, family planning, routine gynecology, and well woman care. The CNM will provide routine prenatal care to pregnant women from point of entry into care through delivery and the immediate post partum period. Care is provided under the direction of the supervising physician (CWH Medical Director, DOD and/or on-call OB Hospitalist).PRIMARY JOB DUTIESPerforms a patient medical history and physical and initial obstetric evaluation of patient at first prenatal visit.Provides ongoing low risk prenatal care to women from point of entry into care through delivery.Identifies high risk obstetric problems and transfers care to appropriate physician or tertiary care center.Provides post-partum careSelects, performs and/or interprets the appropriate routine laboratory and diagnostic tests.Reviews all lab and diagnostic results with patients. Reviews and follows up on any abnormal testing with patient.Provides comprehensive family planning services to women.Provides comprehensive well woman services according to annual health maintenance guidelines.Provides appropriate STD testing and treatment. Provides appropriate HIV testing and treatment/referral.Requests specialty consultation as approved by supervising physician.Provides routine gynecological services including preventative care, primary care for well women.Provides patient education, health counseling and guidance to patients.Documents all care rendered in the medical record in a timely fashion.Completes and submits coded fee tickets for each patient encounter.Prescribes medications as per protocol under the direction of the supervising physician.Participates in data collection and outcome measurement to insure quality care being provided.Assists Manager of Women's Health and/or CWH Medical Director in the development and implementation of special projects and programs and assists in the monitoring of results.Participates in the development of APRN Protocols/Policies.Promotes a safe environment for staff, patients and family members.Participates in CWH PQIP program.Contributes to the positive patient care experience, every encounter, every time.Has a clear understanding of the patient experience data that is collected for the CWH.QualificationsEDUCATION: Master's graduate of an accredited nursing program which includes a WHNP/Nurse Midwifery Program.2. LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS: Current California licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife; Current NP licensure from any state or 5 years prior NP experience. Board Certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Current AHA or equivalent BLS card. Maintains a current Furnishing Number for prescribing medications.3. EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years' experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife practicing in an active OB/GYN Practice.4. SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient's physical and emotional status. Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age-related needs. Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Adult, Young Adult, Adolescent, Pediatric, and Neonatal. Demonstrates clear credentials check through the AHP process.5. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Demonstrates the True North values.
