Duties Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic testing. Diagnosis: Identify and diagnose acute, chronic, and complex health conditions. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized care plans that address patient needs, including treatment goals and expected outcomes. Prescribing: Prescribe medications, therapies, and medical devices. Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For APN positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher-level degree in nursing in the area indicated by the position (e.g., Midwifery). Licensure: All applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the applicable jurisdiction. Additional Licensure for APN Positions APN applicants must be licensed or registered by the appropriate state or territory in the clinical specialty required by the position. GS-11/GS-12 Basic Requirements (Selected Excerpts) GS-11: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in nursing or related field; OR at least one year of professional nursing experience (GS-9) with the appropriate degree. Provide care for mothers and babies across the maternity cycle within a medically directed health service. Manage normal antepartum and labor, perform obstetrical evaluations, newborn care, and related procedures as described. GS-12: At least one year of professional advanced practice nursing experience equivalent to GS-12. Perform comprehensive history and physicals; prescribe medicines; monitor fetal status; assist during cesarean sections; independently manage normal labor and vaginal delivery; provide analgesia; assist with newborn care and resuscitation; address obstetric emergencies; consult or refer as needed; educate patients; participate in quality assurance.
