If so, we are looking for you to join our team as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). We value reliability, excellent patient service, and a team-player mentality. Our Certified Ophthalmic Technicians specialize in retina care and are an essential member of our retina specialist practice group. In this role, you will provide invaluable support to our retina specialists and contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of various retinal conditions. Your expertise in ophthalmic care will be instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and excellence of our specialized practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including specialized assessments of retinal health, visual acuity, and retinal imaging.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform advanced ophthalmic tests tailored to retinal conditions, such as fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and fundus photography.
  • Instrumentation: Operate and maintain state-of-the-art retinal diagnostic equipment, ensuring its proper functioning for accurate evaluations.
  • Medication Administration: Administer retinal medications and injections as directed by the retina specialist, ensuring precision and patient comfort.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients about retinal health, treatment options, and post-operative care, ensuring their understanding and compliance.
  • Sterilization and Infection Control: Maintain strict adherence to sterilization protocols and infection control measures to uphold a sterile and safe clinical environment.
  • Documentation: Keep meticulous records of retinal examinations, test results, treatment plans, and billing information in compliance with our specialized practice's standards.
  • Procedure Support: Assist retina specialists during various retinal procedures, including retinal surgeries, laser treatments, and intravitreal injections.
  • Communication: Foster effective communication with patients, retina specialists, and the healthcare team to facilitate the seamless delivery of specialized retinal care.
  • Continuing Education: Stay abreast of the latest developments in retinal care, technology, and treatment modalities through ongoing education and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT, COMT) through a recognized credentialing body, such as the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Profound knowledge of retinal diagnostic techniques, equipment, and terminology.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating empathy and compassion in patient interactions.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, specialized clinical setting.
  • Expertise in infection control and safety protocols.
  • Dedication to providing exemplary patient care, particularly in the field of retinal health.
