Summary:
Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans.
Responsibilities:
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.\nInclude, but are not limited to:
Emergency (Code Blue and White) response;\nAirway management including nasotracheal & endotracheal suctioning;\nDelivery of aerosolized drugs;\nVentilator management (i.e.: setup and operation);\nOral hygiene;\nAirway retaining device placement and maintenance;\nAirway support device management including BiPAP and CPAP devices;\nOxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoring;\nChest film analysis;\nBloodgas collection and analysis;\nEKG analysis;\nAccurate and complete documentation;\nCleaning and stocking of equipment and supplies as necessary;\nParticipate in CAP and JC surveys.
RRTs may function as Shift Leader or serve in the capacity of Team Leader.\nAdvanced practice skills may include:
Therapeutic gas management and monitoring, including INO and HeO2;\nPulmonary Function Testing;\nBronchoscopy assist;\nHemodynamic Monitoring;\nWaveform analysis;\nNocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies);
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills
See licensure and/or certification requirements\nExperience
2 – 3 years of experience preferred\nLicenses, Registrations, or Certifications
RCP License in the state of employment required\nBLS required\nCRT thru the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
