The Surgical Technician assists the surgical team by performing scrubbing duties and maintaining a sterile environment during operative procedures. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, anticipating surgical needs, and supporting patient safety through precise attention to detail and effective collaboration with the operative team.
Key Responsibilities-
Create, maintain, and monitor a sterile surgical field

Inspect sterile supplies and instruments for integrity and contamination

Prepare and verify functionality of surgical equipment prior to procedures

Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs throughout each case

Scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures, including specialty cases such as sports medicine and trauma

Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air-powered surgical equipment
-
Assist the RN with operative documentation and tracking of surgical hardware

Collect specimens and cultures, confirming correct source and identification with the surgeon

High school diploma required

Minimum of 1 year of operating room experience as a Surgical Technician or completion of an accredited Surgical Technician training program

Certification or eligibility for certification preferred

BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
