Change Management Consultant – Systems ThinkingContract£450 to £500 per dayOutside IR35LocationUK-based, with travel to client sites as required. Candidate location is flexible, but the successful consultant must be happy to travel and work on-site when projects require it. This role will involve supporting long-term client engagements, which may be based in locations such as Derbyshire for a number of months on a hybrid basis, before potentially moving on to other client sites in different parts of the UK.About the Change Management Consultant Role:Our consultancy client is seeking a Change Management Consultant to support clients through complex transformation programmes.This is a contract opportunity for a senior-level consultant who thrives in environments where change cannot be solved through surface-level fixes alone. The successful candidate will be highly capable in Systems Thinking and will know how to diagnose performance issues across an end-to-end service, identify root causes, and support organisations in making meaningful, sustainable improvements.This role is heavily systems thinking based. It will suit someone who naturally looks beyond symptoms, challenges assumptions, and understands how demand, process, measures, roles, decision-making, and organisational design interact across a whole system.You will work closely with senior stakeholders and client teams to analyse service performance, design effective interventions, and help embed change that delivers measurable operational, cultural, and commercial improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesApply Systems Thinking principles to understand how services perform end-to-end from a customer and operational perspectiveDiagnose systemic issues, constraints, service failures, waste, and performance gaps across complex organisationsMap workflows, handoffs, interdependencies, measures, and decision points to identify what is driving current outcomesUse intervention theory and structured experimentation to test and validate changes within live operational environmentsSupport the design of operating models, working practices, roles, and feedback loops that improve service and organisational performanceWork with senior leaders to build a deeper understanding of the conditions affecting performance across the wider systemTranslate operational findings into clear, commercially relevant insight to support strategic decision-makingFacilitate workshops, discussions, and decision forums with stakeholders across multiple levels of an organisationCoach leaders and teams to build internal capability, ensuring clients become more self-sufficient rather than dependent on external supportDrive practical, sustainable change that balances strategic thinking with hands-on deliveryWhat We’re Looking ForProven experience delivering change within complex organisational environmentsStrong expertise in Systems Thinking, with the ability to apply it in a practical and credible wayA consultant mindset with the confidence to work autonomously and influence at senior levelStrong diagnostic capability, with the ability to uncover root causes rather than treat symptomsExperience using intervention theory, experimental change methods, or similar approaches to support improvementExcellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and challenge constructivelyStrong facilitation, communication, and coaching skillsExperience working within operationally complex or highly regulated environments would be beneficialA pragmatic approach, combining strategic perspective with practical executionWhy This Role?This is an excellent opportunity to join a consultancy environment focused on helping organisations improve performance through a genuine systems-thinking approach, rather than relying on generic change frameworks.If you are passionate about understanding how organisations really work, improving service performance at a systemic level, and helping clients deliver meaningful long-term change, we would love to hear from you.
