A new and exciting opportunity awaits you!The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Rockview is seeking a highly motivated Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy Department. If you have the required religious experience as indicated and wish to explore a rewarding career that offers the opportunity to share your skills while earning a great salary andbenefits, the PA Department of Corrections wants to hear from you!

As a Chaplain for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible to serve inmates of all faiths in addition to administering faith-appropriate sacraments, rites, and ceremonies for inmates who identity with your faith tradition. You will be conducting faith-specific primary religious gatherings for inmates who share the Chaplains broad faith tradition and supervise similar accommodations for inmates of other faiths, conducting rounds to inmates in all areas of the facility, and conducting spiritual and grief counseling for any interested inmate regardless of the inmates spiritual or religious beliefs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Sunday) and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Monday - Thursday), with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional pastoral experience; and a bachelors degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional pastoral experience.

Special Requirements:
  • All candidates require, at time of interview, documentation of official sanction by a faith group to practice as a religious leader.
  • All employees in the Department of Corrections must complete, within six months of hire, the Correctional Chaplains Training Course.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:
  • You must pass a background investigation.
