Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Remote | Strategic Financial Leadership for a High-Growth IT Company

Compensation: Commensurate with Experience

A rapidly growing East Coast-based Information Technology company is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and scale its financial operations. This is a fully remote role that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and plays a mission-critical role in guiding the company through continued expansion, financial maturity, and operational excellence.

About the Role

This role requires a leader who is as comfortable building out accounting systems as they are shaping high-level strategy. The ideal candidate has experience scaling finance functions in fast-growth environments and is eager to roll up their sleeves. This is not a figurehead role—you’ll lead from the front, own the numbers, and work cross-functionally to ensure alignment between operations, growth, and profitability.

You will oversee all financial operations, compliance, reporting, and planning—while owning communications with venture capital stakeholders and board members. You’ll also bring best practices in multi-platform financial systems and help unify operations as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and finance operations including budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, tax compliance, and month-end close

• Build and mentor a high-performing finance team across accounting and FP&A

• Establish internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and strengthen risk management practices

• Report directly to the CEO and serve as a strategic advisor across the executive leadership team

• Deliver accurate, timely reporting for investors and the board, including VC-style financial packages, KPI dashboards, and forecasts

• Manage financial systems integration across multiple accounting platforms (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero)

• Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial plans with operational execution

• Support fundraising, M&A, due diligence, and other strategic financial initiatives

• Drive scalable processes and automation to support continued rapid growth

What We’re Looking For

• 15+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting

• Leadership background as a CFO, SVP Finance, VP Finance, Controller, or Director of Finance

• Strong track record in information technology, software, or computing environments

• Experience with VC-backed financial reporting, board communications, and investor relations

• Hands-on knowledge of accounting operations—able to dive into the details when necessary

• Fluency across multiple financial systems and accounting platforms

• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute in fast-paced, high-growth settings

• CPA or equivalent credential is preferred

Nice to Have

• SaaS, recurring revenue, or licensing model experience

• Exposure to global finance operations or international tax

• Experience scaling financial operations in a startup or VC/PE-backed environment

• Familiarity with ASC 606 and international financial reporting standards

• Success managing remote or hybrid finance teams
