About the Company: Central Mediation Center (CMC) is a private, non-profit corporation that provides mediation, facilitation, and conflict resolution services within a 35-county area in central and southwest Nebraska. The Center is funded through state and federal grants, client fees, and donations. CMC is one of six Nebraska community mediation centers established by the Nebraska Parenting Act and approved by the Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) under the auspices of the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Central Mediation Center is looking for a Child Welfare Case Coordinator/Facilitator to be based in our office in Kearney, NE. Child Welfare Conferencing/Facilitation provides the opportunity for families involved in the states system to provide input and develop solutions to assure the safety of children and other members of the family, recognizing that families have the most information about themselves to make decisions that protect children. This position involves facilitating small and large group meetings in high conflict settings, both in-person and via Zoom across a 35-county area in Central Nebraska.
Specialized mediation/facilitation training will be provided by CMC/ODR.
Position Activities
- Dialogue with family members, case workers, attorneys, and service providers about various child welfare processes
- Arrange all logistics for the child welfare conferences
- Facilitate/mediate conferences of family members, attorneys, service providers, and case workers
- Promote and develop external community and system relationships integral to the Child Welfare Conferencing programs including but not limited to Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services, courts and members of the legal community, service providers, and community members
- Maintain records and produce accurate reports in a timely fashion
- Support other projects of Central Mediation Center
- Work autonomously on case work and collaboratively on projects
- Attend trainings, conference and continuing education on topics such as dispute resolution and child welfare
Qualifications
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of laws and principles of our community designed to keep children healthy and safe
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Preferred: experience in conflict resolution, mediation and/or group facilitation; however, specialized mediation/facilitation training will be provided
- Preferred: bachelors degree in human services/social work, criminal justice, or related field
Working Environment
- Work both in office environment and out in the community
- Work collaboratively with other staff members
- Meet with family members, service providers, and other stakeholders
- Work hours are flexible in the context of being responsive to family members and community partners
- Traveling within 35 county area on an occasional basis

Salary/Benefits:
- Salary is commensurate based on education/experience
