Cim Model Design Development Apply
CIM Model Design & Development
Location: Dallas, Texas
Design and develop CIM-compliant data models to represent Oncor's electrical network, including transmission, distribution, and asset management systems.
Customize and extend CIM standards (IEC 61970/61968) to meet Oncor's specific operational and regulatory requirements.
Ensure models support applications such as SCADA, DMS (Distribution Management System), EMS (Energy Management System), GIS (Geographic Information System), and other enterprise systems.
Data Integration & Interoperability:
Facilitate data exchange between Oncor's systems using CIM as the standard for interoperability.
Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate CIM models with enterprise architecture, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and third-party applications.
Develop and maintain mappings and transformations for data exchange formats (e.g., XML, RDF).
Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead a team of engineers and analysts in CIM implementation projects, providing technical guidance and mentoring junior team members.
Work closely with stakeholders, including operations, IT, and regulatory teams, to gather requirements and align CIM models with business objectives.
Represent Oncor in industry forums and standards organizations to stay updated on CIM advancements and ensure compliance.
Model Maintenance & Governance:
Establish governance processes for CIM model lifecycle management, including version control, validation, and documentation.
Perform regular audits and updates to ensure models remain accurate and aligned with evolving network configurations and standards.
Testing & Validation:
Develop test plans to validate CIM models against operational data and system requirements.
Ensure models meet performance, scalability, and reliability standards for mission-critical applications.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to leverage CIM for advanced analytics, grid modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and standards in the utility industry to drive innovation.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in the electric utility industry, with at least 3 years focused on CIM design and implementation.
Proven experience with IEC 61970 and IEC 61968 standards and their application in utility environments.
Hands-on experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, CIMTool) and data exchange formats (e.g., XML, RDF, JSON).
Familiarity with utility systems such as SCADA, DMS, EMS, GIS, or OMS (Outage Management System).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or SQL) for model automation and data processing.
Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, middleware, and APIs
Understanding of electrical network operations, including transmission and distribution systems.
Preferred Certifications:
Certification in CIM or related standards (e.g., IEC CIM certification).
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is a plus.
