Job Overview:A highly qualified Civil/Structural Design Engineer is needed for a one-year contract assignment at the North Anna Power Station. This role will support a major main condenser project, with a focus on equipment supports and rigging evolutions. The position involves both office-based engineering and field implementation support, including preparation of design changes, procurement specifications, vendor documentation reviews, and bid evaluations.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and review civil/structural design changes in accordance with Commercial Nuclear Design Change Process (IP-ENG-001).Develop and assess procurement specifications and review vendor bids from a technical perspective.Perform technical reviews of supplier/manufacturer documentation and ensure compliance with all specified requirements.Serve as an owner’s representative during document reviews and occasional vendor facility visits.Provide on-site support during field implementation of design changes and equipment installations.Top Three Skills:Minimum of 6 years of civil engineering experience with direct, hands-on work in the U.S. Commercial Nuclear Industry.B.S. or M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering (candidates with other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical may be considered with relevant nuclear experience).Familiarity with utility nuclear design processes and deep understanding of design change protocols and regulatory standards.Required Qualifications:Proven structural and rigging experience in a nuclear setting.Strong experience preparing specifications and supporting implementation efforts.Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Collaborative mindset and ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.Self-starter with high attention to detail.Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:Experience with utility-specific nuclear design change processes outside of IP-ENG-001.Background in major component installation and nuclear construction support.Knowledge of codes and standards such as AISC, ANSI, and ASTM.Experience evaluating manufacturer/supplier submittals for technical compliance.PE license is desirable but not required.
