Civil Engineer Apply
The position provides civil engineering and design services to all activities and tenants for a broad range of facilities, served by Naval Facilities Engineering Command, in a Regional Office. This includes a large number of customer activities with varied missions, dispersed over a sizable geographical region with numerous facility types, ranging from administrative and housing facilities to very complex industrial and operational facilities.
Pay range - GS -12
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides independent, timely and professional civil engineering products, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.
- Represents NAVFAC Regional Office in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborates with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
- Typical projects include: civil engineering services for site developments, roads, airfields, water supply, sewer systems, drainage, dredging, solid waste facilities, shore protection, and other civil works to support new or existing facilities and encompass building or project sites with diverse climatic, geographic, and environmental conditions.
- You will be recognized as Subject Matter Expert, consultant, engineering coordinator, and technical specialist in [one or more of] the following area[s]:
- Site development and roadways
- Airfield pavements
- Water systems
- Sewer systems
- Drainage systems
- Dredging.
- Solid Waste
- Shoreline protection
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Knowledgeable and practical application of civil engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, construct and maintain a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.
- Knowledgeable of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to civil engineering design including the International Building Code.
- Knowledgeable of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting civil engineering design throughout the NAVFAC [LANT] area of responsibility, including but not limited to the United States, [Europe, Africa, the North Atlantic, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Middle East,] and other areas as assigned by the DoD.
- Knowledgeable of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to civil engineering design.
- Knowledgeable and experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, civil engineering design and analysis software and other applicable DoD computer systems and software used by the Command.
- Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.
- Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.
- Knowledgeable of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.
- Knowledgeable of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance, and use of personal protective equipment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer
- At least 5-years experience in relevant field
- Eligible to obtain Secret level security clearance.
- Required to complete the Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE Form 450, on an annual basis to report financial interest as well as other interests outside the government.
