Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Project Manager (Residential) to assist with our projects in Columbus!
Key Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive civil engineering design for large residential developments, including: Master planning, lot layout, road networks, open-space design
- \n
- Grading and earthwork balancing \n
- Sanitary, storm, and water utility design \n
- Stormwater management and detention/retention systems \n
- \n
- Lead project planning including scope, schedule, resourcing, and budget management. \n
- Oversee preparation of construction drawings, engineering reports, and permitting packages. \n
- Ensure quality control and adherence to local and MSG standards as well as client expectations. \n
Client Engagement & Business Development
- \n
- Serve as primary client contact for residential developers, builders, and landowners. \n
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and national homebuilders. \n
- Present project deliverables to clients, regulatory agencies, and municipal authorities. \n
- Participate in proposal preparation, project interviews, and business development initiatives. \n
Regulatory & Permitting Coordination
- \n
- Manage permitting and reviews with municipalities, local review agencies, and Ohio EPA. \n
- Navigate zoning, entitlement processes, and early-stage land planning requirements. \n
- Address comments from reviewing agencies and coordinate revisions with internal teams. \n
Construction Support
- Oversee construction-phase services including:
- \n
- Site visits \n
- Responding to RFIs \n
- Reviewing change orders \n
- Coordinating with contractors and field staff \n
- Assist clients and contractors with resolving design or field issues to keep projects moving.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- \n
- Direct and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and technicians. \n
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary support from environmental, transportation, survey, construction and geotechnical groups. \n
- Promote a collaborative, growth-focused team culture \n
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. \n
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Ohio, or ability to obtain within 6 months. \n
- 8+ years of civil site development experience, with at least 2 years focused on residential land development. \n
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (alignments, corridors, grading, profiles, pipe networks). \n
- Demonstrated experience managing clients, projects, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams. \n
- Knowledge of local development codes, stormwater regulations, and residential design standards. \n
Preferred
- \n
- Experience with large, multi-phase residential communities or master-planned developments. \n
- Familiarity with Columbus-area permitting agencies and development processes. \n
- Strong understanding of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and stormwater best practices. \n
- Experience in mentoring staff and leading internal design teams. \n
