Salary Range: $15.90 - 19.87 Hourly

Job Summary:

The City of Greeley is seeking a full-time, temporary Clerical Assistant to work as part of the Water & Sewer Utility Billing Department, to administer the Food Tax Rebate and Utility Assistance Programs.

This is an hourly, seasonal clerical position working up to 40 hours per week from February 1, 2024, through May 31, 2024. Responsibilities include processing customer applications for food tax rebate program and utility assistance program, answering customer questions, assisting customers with filing food tax rebate applications and utility assistance program; assisting staff in sorting/filing miscellaneous accounting forms, and other duties as assigned.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least six (6) months of previous clerical experience
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe

PREFERRED:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish with demonstrated fluency preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and best practices, including customer needs assessments, meeting quality service standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of incident response and handling methodologies
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to actively listen, address customer needs, defuse tense situations, and maintain an open, flexible, and friendly demeanor
  • Ability to deliver a high level of commitment to customer service
  • Ability to respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to present oneself professionally in appearance, demeanor, and effort
  • Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities
  • Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal
  • Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others
  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Assisting customers with filing food tax rebate applications
  • Assisting customers with filing utility assistance applications
  • Processing customer applications for the food tax rebate program

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must remain at fixed workstation for extended periods of time
  • Primarily office environment
  • Vision enough to perform above functions, read printed instructions
  • Ability to use desktop computer, keyboard, telephone, and other common office equipment
  • Vision sufficient to use computer and perform typical office tasks
  • Hearing sufficient to interact with co-workers and customers both in person and on the telephone
