This position serves our partners at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) within the Department of Public Safety (DPS). MNIT BCA provides comprehensive IT operations and support services, custom application development, and dedicated business-specific support functions for investigative and specialized law enforcement services. You will support an agency that partners with law enforcement, public safety, and criminal justice agencies to prevent and solve crimes.

Job Summary


As a Client Computing Support Analyst with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT), you will provide computer support services for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), an agency that partners with law enforcement, public safety, and criminal justice agencies to prevent and solve crimes. Your responsibilities will include: PC and mobile applications/software support; responding to questions regarding application functions and problems encountered; supporting BCA user software; providing hardware installation and maintenance; TCP/IP network problem identification and resolution; providing device administration for users within the BCA, and working with other technical staff within DPS and outside vendors.

This poistion allows an employee to telework up to 1 day per week after completing probation.

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.

This position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in Information Technology application support, administration and troubleshooting.

Experience must include:

  • TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) network troubleshooting.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of personal computer hardware and software.
  • Understanding of networking concepts in a Microsoft Windows 10 (or newer) environment.
  • Experience supporting issues with Microsoft Office, Windows OS.
  • PC troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving

*A Bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for two (2) years of experience, OR a related Associates degree substitutes for one (1) year.*

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of SCCM / MECM .
  • Experience with remote support tools.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management.
  • Experience supporting mobile devices in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to organize, work independently with excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
