JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general building maintenance as required, which may include opening the building, appropriate assistance in events, and emergencies
  • Carry cell phone for 24/7 responses, as available
  • Provide service to the entire clinic as needed
  • Maintain the buildings operations with proper use of equipment in a safe manner using proper safety procedures, such as confined space entry, hot work, ladders safety, lock out/tag out, etc.
  • Will be a member of the Emergency response team
  • Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude to students and fellow employees
  • Coordinates work request forms as appropriate
  • Performs appropriate maintenance, electrical, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and repair tasks
  • Will have some weekend or night responsibilities depending on work order requirements, which may include opening the building, appropriate assistance in events, and emergencies
  • Responsible for executing work request forms and for performing maintenance and repair tasks. Record time and materials used per work order
  • Responsible for service and maintenance of locks and door hardware
  • Maintain the buildings operations with proper use of equipment, minor electrical repairs in a safe manner using proper lock out procedures
  • Provide electrical, mechanical, plumbing and maintenance support as directed
  • Will oversee the clinic safety committee
  • Will respond and manage any security concerns determining when to call 911

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Will be assigned some weekend or night responsibilities for clinic operations depending on work order requirements and or demands of systems
  • Within 90 days of hire, must obtain a CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must have knowledge of basic P.C. operations and M.S. Office software


Other Responsibilities:

  • Test and repair all exam room equipment and fixtures as needed. Exam entire clinic during routine closure weeks for Preventive Maintenance, failures and deficiencies correcting all items in a timely manner
  • Yearly satisfactory completion of clinic safety program, HIPAA and BBP trainings
  • Provide the Campus security department with yearly crime data for the CLERY report
  • Coordinate and lead safety committee meetings per OSHA regulations. Serve as a permanent member of the committee with Facilities Manager
  • Will be required to develop a thorough knowledge of safety procedures associated with fire response, earthquake response, elevator failures, accidents and illness etc
  • Attend special training courses that may be required by the University


Knowledge:

  • Must have basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, security, and controls knowledge
  • Must have mechanical and mathematical aptitude
  • Problem solving and ability to ask for help and/or direction when appropriate
  • Valid Washington drivers license


Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be willing to be part of cooperative team effort. Must be able to anticipate needs of others and provide appropriate advice and help to customers
  • Must have a positive, can do attitude
  • Must be assertive, but tactful. Must be able to understand and work with various personality types at all levels
  • Must be goal-orientated and able to prioritize. Demonstrated ability to advise Facilities Manager of corrections that need to be made or to suggest work improvement methods
  • Ability to solve plumbing problems or know whom to contact for emergency plumbing repair. Pipe fitting experience is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical as per NEC & NFPA 70E and to current Washington State Department of Labor & Industries approved license
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC as per HVAC Technician Certification as approved by EPA
  • Ability to formulate and complete a preventative maintenance program. Demonstrate and carry out the preventive tasks in a timely fashion


Experience:

  • Two or more years of experience with the ability to work autonomously within a Maintenance or Facilities department. Experience in commercial or industrial work
  • Customer service experience, including progressively responsible tasks, preferably in institutional and/or school or university maintenance services
  • Three years of relevant maintenance experience


Education:

  • Minimum High School or GED Equivalent, college or trade school preferred
  • Sustainable maintenance and trade licenses
  • Computer training, basic competence in MS Word, Excel and outlook
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
