Job Title Clinical Nurse (RN) – 22‑Bed Acuity Adaptable Unit (AAU) Location & Shift United States of America – Night Shift, 12 hours (Unit M7) Overview The Clinical Nurse provides acute, evidence‑based nursing care to vascular surgery and cardiology patients in a 22‑bed AAU. The unit follows a 3:1 patient‑to‑nurse ratio at the intermediate ICU level and a 4‑5:1 ratio at the acute care level. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, education, and coordination of care while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities Establish therapeutic relationships and provide emotional support to patients and families throughout the illness journey. Obtain accurate assessment data and interpret findings to identify normal versus abnormal patterns. Identify nursing diagnoses and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Implement nursing and medical interventions safely and evaluate their effectiveness. Teach patients, families, and staff about self‑care, illness management, and procedural knowledge. Respond rapidly to emergencies, activating appropriate protocols and monitoring patient responses. Monitors own and others’ practice for safe, quality patient care and seeks opportunities for continual improvement. Prioritize and delegate tasks, coordinate with team members, and contribute to unit programs and meetings. Participate in shared governance, professional development, and educational activities such as pre‑instruction or formal teaching. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum of two (2) years RN experience; at least one (1) year in cardio‑surgery, step‑down, or ICU is strongly preferred. Licenses & Certifications California Registered Nurse (CA‑RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – may be required depending on cost center Physical Demands Frequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending, stooping, and walking are integral to the role. The work environment poses moderate risks of exposure to blood, body fluids, and other potentially infectious agents. Compensation Base pay ranges from $96.35 to $111.14 per hour, contingent on experience, education, and specialty.
