Position Purpose

  • The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy team by accurately preparing prescription orders, managing inventory, and ensuring timely and compliant dispensing of medications. The role works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to maintain operational efficiency and uphold quality and regulatory standards.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician or medical office experience, such as billing, coding, office assistance, or prior authorization.
  • Familiarity with medications commonly used for chronic and debilitating illnesses preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
  • Must hold a valid state pharmacy technician license for the state in which the position is based or can obtain one within the required timeframe per state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of prescription orders.
  • Work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to complete assigned tasks.
  • Select and verify correct medication and strength during order picking.
  • Prepare, count, label, and package medications for pharmacist review and approval.
  • Purchase, receive, organize, and maintain pharmacy inventory.
  • Update and maintain inventory recap reports.
  • Remove expired or discontinued medications from stock, document appropriately, and return or dispose of them according to policy.
  • Maintain accurate prescription logs and related documentation.
  • Calibrate pharmacy equipment and document calibrations as required.
  • Assist with maintaining temperature logs, cleaning logs, and general pharmacy maintenance records.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, accreditation standards, quality assurance measures, and federal/state regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and standards.
