Surgical Icu Rn SupervisorUC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor for the Surgical ICU at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The RN Supervisor will support the Medical Centers' Surgical ICU, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures.About The University of Cincinnati Medical Center As part of the Clifton Campus of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Each year, hundreds of thousands of patients receive care from our world-renowned clinicians and care team. Our experts utilize the most advanced medical knowledge and technology available, providing a level of specialty and subspecialty medical care that is not available anywhere else in Greater Cincinnati. UC Medical Center is also home to medical breakthroughs- our physician experts conduct basic, translational, and clinical research, leading to new therapies and care protocols, and connecting patients to the latest and most advanced treatments. UC Medical Center houses Greater Cincinnati's only Level I adult trauma center, which includes the right mix of specialist and medical resources available at a moment's notice for a wide variety of the most complex medical conditions and injuries.ResponsibilitiesThe RN Supervisor assumes the responsibility for ensuring excellent patient care is being delivered, maintaining expeditious patient flow with a focus on customer service, and supervision of nursing staff. The RN Supervisor will provide input on staff evaluations and complete evaluations for their regular staff cohort. The RN Supervisor will also assist with cost containment and manage all employees to do the same. The position requires knowledge of leadership and effective interpersonal communication skills.Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff.Leads and implements operational improvement initiatives and assures compliance via staff coaching and mentoring.Identifies needs for specific equipment and ensures adequate and properly functioning equipment and supplies are available for patient care.Ensures shift practice is in compliance with state and federal medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA, and House Bill 316).Maintains hospital-wide and department-specific nursing competencies and completes annual competencies in the required time frame.Collaborates with the Department Educator and/or provides orientation and educational needs identified in the department.Engages staff in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities according to the department PI plan.Provides immediate counseling for staff when specific behaviors or incidents negatively affect patient care or the general work environment.QualificationsEducation and Experience Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Nursing is requiredMinimum of two to four years of clinical nursing experience in the clinical specialty.Licensed to practice in the State of OhioJoin our team to BE UC Health.
