This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, coordinating total patient care, and delivering a polished, compassionate experience aligned with the highest clinical standards. The RN collaborates closely with the clinical team and New Vista Surgical Suites (NVSS) to provide seamless, high-quality surgical care while maintaining accountability for professional nursing practice.What You'll DoDeliver a friendly, efficient, and exceptional patient experience from initial consultation through post-operative recoveryPerform comprehensive pre-op and post-op patient assessments, including remote and in-person evaluationsVerify surgical procedures, consents, allergies, labs, diagnostics, and documentation in the Electronic Medical Note (EMN)Communicate clinical findings, abnormal results, and patient concerns to surgeons, anesthesia providers, and care team membersAdminister medications and IV therapy in accordance with established protocols and scope of practiceProvide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative careDocument all clinical communication, assessments, medications, and care plans accurately in the EMNRespond effectively in clinical or surgical emergencies and support NVSS team as neededAdhere to HIPAA, OSHA, QUAD A, AORN Recommended Practices, and all internal safety protocolsEvaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans to optimize safety and surgical resultsSupport cross-training, participate in staff meetings, and assist in onboarding and mentoring new team membersQualificationsAssociate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferredActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferredMinimum 2 years of peri-operative nursing experience preferred, ideally within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)Plastic surgery experience preferredStrong clinical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sterile technique, telemetry, labs, and medicationsAbility to start IVs per protocol and manage peri-operative patient needs independentlyOrganized, self-motivated professional with strong prioritization skills and sense of urgencyKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExceptional interpersonal and written communication skills with patients, physicians, vendors, and team membersAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of careSkilled in critical thinking, problem solving, and clinical judgment in high-acuity or stressful environmentsStrong documentation accuracy and proficiency with EMR systems and general office technologyCommitment to maintaining licensure and ongoing continuing educationAbility to lift, transport, and assist patients and equipment as neededProfessional demeanor with a focus on patient dignity, confidentiality, and safetyWorking EnvironmentClinical peri-operative environment with exposure to blood and bodily fluids (OSHA Category I position)Climate-controlled surgical and office setting with moderate noise levelsPhysical requirements include prolonged standing, walking, listening, manual dexterity, and occasional liftingThis position is designed for a nursing professional who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment, values teamwork, and is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
