Job TitleRetina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an individual who will be responsible for providing accurate documentation and summarization of the ocular examination and recommendations while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status within a high volume practice. Candidate will work exclusively within the EMR system (Nextech) supporting the providers as they interact with the patient.Candidate must be able to travel to multiple clinics to meet the needs of the patients and providers, and support the clinic's variable hours (Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 6:30pm). Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the physician's clinic, patient and surgery schedules. This position combines ophthalmic technical skills with research administration capabilities, requiring strong communication abilities to educate patients about complex clinical trials and assist with informed consent processes. The technician maintains patient flow, supports clinical procedures, and ensures compliance with research protocols while exemplifying our core values of hard work, authentic care, and innovation.Duties and Responsibilities:Clinical Functions:Obtains comprehensive patient history including chief complaint, history of present illness, patient and family history of both ocular and general illnesses, history of allergies, and current medicationsAccurately performs and documents visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, evaluation of motility, pupillary function tests, dilation, and ocular tonometryAssists physicians with laser procedures, injections, and minor procedures while maintaining sterile and safe environment protocolsPerforms intraocular pressure checks after injectionsProvides compassionate patient care throughout the clinic flowMaintains cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms and back-up levels of supply stockCounsels, consents, sets up and assists with in-office proceduresResearch Functions:Counsels and educates patients regarding clinical trials, articulating complex study information clearlyConducts informed consent processes for research studiesAdministers all mandatory questionnaires to study subjectsPrepares visit-specific documentation and charts for Physician Clinic TeamPromptly requests all necessary medical records for Serious Adverse Event ReportingProcesses and ships laboratory biological samples for analysisCoordinates and schedules subject visits within study/subject specific windows per protocol guidelinesTranscribes subject study information from source documents to Electronic Case Report FormsObtains any applicable additional/required sponsor training and/or certificationsPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation Requirements: High school diploma required Bachelor of Science/Biology preferredExperience Requirements: Previous healthcare or research experience preferred but not required Ability to understand and articulate complex concepts Quick learning ability and adaptability Bilingual capabilities preferred (English primary)Core Values: Demonstrates hard work and dedication Exhibits authentic care for patients and colleagues Shows innovation and problem-solving abilitiesPhysical Abilities: Must be able to walk and stand for entire work shift.
