Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Freelance Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimisation of cloud-based platforms for a large-scale enterprise environment in Rotterdam. The engineer will work closely with DevOps teams, architects, and application teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using best practicesImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormationSupport cloud migrations from on-premise to cloud environmentsMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimise cloud platforms for performance, cost, and securityCollaborate with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelinesEnsure compliance with security, governance, and operational standardsParticipate in architectural discussions and technical decision-makingProvide documentation and knowledge transfer where requiredRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong hands-on experience as a Cloud EngineerProven expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Solid experience with Infrastructure as CodeExperience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Strong knowledge of networking, security, and identity in cloud environmentsExperience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teamsNice to HaveMulti-cloud experienceDevOps tooling experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)Monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud-native monitoring)Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP)Experience in enterprise or regulated environmentsLanguageEnglish: Professional working proficiencyDutch is a plus but not required
