About the role

DNV Maritime, Region Americas is seeking an CMC Surveyor - Entry Level to join our team. As a Certification of Materials and Components (CMC) Surveyor, you will be member of a highly qualified team of individuals fulfilling surveying, auditing, certification activities for the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, and Maritime industries. CMC Surveyor responsibilities include the Certification of equipment and systems to Class Society rules and standards as well as Verification of equipment and systems to other recognized industry specifications. Upon customer request, you will visit their sites to perform the surveying duties. These duties ensure product compliance with specified rule requirements through witness and review of welding, NDE, factory testing, material documentation, etc. CMC surveyors are an integral component to DNVs commitment to ensuring protection of life, property, and the environment.

This position is located in our Katy, TX office.

What you'll do

  • Travel: as much as 25%. Travel is primarily domestic, but may include Canada, Mexico, and South America
  • Regular working hours, with periodic extended periods and irregular hours based on project demand.
  • Managing multiple small to medium size projects for varying durations
  • Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the DNV Class Rules, Industry Regulations, International Specifications, Instructions, Guidelines and Customer Specifications
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times
  • Support customers with solving problems of various technical and commercial matters and present customer solutions in a timely manner
    Order management from quotation to close.
  • Surveillance of fabrication workmanship, review and approval of various documents related to manufacturing, testing and quality assurance.
  • Handling of customer accounts, proactive resolution of challenges through customer interface.
  • Writing reports summarizing survey activities, preparing and issuing final deliverables to customer
  • Assisting our cost controllers with the processing of invoices and accounts receivable in a timely manner
  • Performing special tasks involving business development or participating in internal projects to support DNV advancements in work processes

About you

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering preferred. Other four-year engineering discipline degrees will be considered, e.g. other Engineering Technology degrees. New graduates and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous work experience in Maritime or Offshore environment is a plus. Previous work experience with systems or equipment design or manufacturing is a plus.
  • 0 - 3 years of relevant experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream within the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, or Maritime industries.
  • Prior welding, NDE certifications, or audit experience is a plus
  • Language: English Speaking / Writing proficiency. Must be an exemplary communicator
  • Ability to travel to customer locations via own vehicle or commercial airline. Be able to drive at minimum 4 hours in duration at times
  • Represent DNV and its brand in a most professional manner
  • Behavioral competencies: A competent team player, but comfortable working primarily independently. Ability to collaborate with peers and share knowledge and experiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (incl. Word, Excel) and other digital communications and digital data collection/reporting platforms
  • Propensity for continuous improvement within the team
  • Ambition for continuous learning and education
  • Willingness to apply technology to drive DNVs digital strategy, for example remote survey solutions
  • Possess a curious and intuitive nature
  • Possess a friendly customer-oriented focus.
Physical Ability Requirements
  • Lifting 10% of the time, minimum carrying requirement of 33 lbs./15 kg
  • Standing 50% of the time for a varying number of hours
  • Climbing 50% of the time ladders and steps of varying height and angles.
  • Other: Ability to move inside confined spaces and crawl through manholes with diameter of 600mm or more. Extreme weather (temperature and humidity) and environmental conditions may occur during standard surveyor work activities.
