Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO), the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to patients, assisting them with self-care and daily living needs in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and meals.
  • Perform non-sterile treatments and procedures.
  • Record and report patient observations, including vital signs, weight, and intake/output, to the immediate supervisor.
  • Transport patients, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and examinations, including surgical preps.

Family & Community Interaction:

  • Support and interact with residents' families appropriately.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Clean and report the condition of medical equipment.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Comply with CIMC policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of the healthcare team.
  • Perform administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • Current and valid CNA certification in California.

Experience:

  • 3 to 6 months of experience in a skilled nursing facility setting.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including patients, staff, and community representatives.
  • Knowledge of standard nursing practices and regulations.
  • Strong teamwork, flexibility, and customer service skills.
Working Conditions
  • Critical Access/Rural Health Clinic setting with frequent patient interaction.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, chemicals, and other clinical environment hazards.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced work with frequent interruptions and potential emergency situations.
Contract Details
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (6 AM 6 PM or 6 PM 6 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
  • Rate: $20 $25/hour
  • Overtime: Begins after 36 hours/week, paid at 1.5x hourly rate
  • Holiday/Call Back Rate: 1.5x hourly rate (minimum 2 hours for call-back)
  • Housing: Studio apartment provided at $200/week (traveler-paid, non-refundable $200 cleaning fee)
  • Transportation: Ferry tickets provided (no personal vehicles allowed on the island)
