CNC Machine Operator 1

Reports To: Shop Manager

Position Summary:

The CNC Machine Operator 1 is responsible for the operation of the CNC equipment including lathes and mills. The job involves repetitive tasks, and employees may be required to monitor multiple machines.. Typical job duties include, loading materials into the machine, monitoring machine operation during use, machine maintenance, deburring, and inspecting machined parts. This role will also require simple maintenance tasks such as changing coolant and oil. An individual in this role is expected to be cross-trained to operate multiple machining centers and/or to perform functions in other departments as required.

Essential Functions:
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining, including setup procedure, operation, and quality requirements.
  • Basic understanding of reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings and production documentation.
  • Math competency required. Ability to simple perform calculations required for machine setup and adjustments to maintain required dimensions.
  • Basic understanding of measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, and other instruments needed to conduct inspection of work product.
  • Understand and follow all Company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Maintain a well-organized, safe and clean work area at all times.
  • Conduct and document preventative maintenance on the machines.
  • Maintain standards of quality during production.
  • Able to stand for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as assigned.
  • Follow all safety guidelines as outlined in the company safety manual.
  • Cross-train and perform other duties as assigned based on organizational demand.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CNC machining and/or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Haas, Doosan, and Fadal controls is a plus
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • An analytical mind with good math skills
  • Great communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Must be reliable and trustworthy
  • Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
