CNC Machinist/ Programmer in Cookeville, TN A CNC Machinist/Programer responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision components according to exact specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical documents. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines such as mills, lathes, or grinders to manufacture precision parts. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to ensure accuracy in production. Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job. Conduct machine offsets, adjustments, and program edits as needed to maintain part quality. Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to prevent downtime. Maintain tight tolerances and adhere to strict manufacturing standards. Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized. Document production data, measurements, and completed work accurately. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to meet production goals. Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in operating CNC machinery (mills, lathes, or both). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T symbols. Knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling. Strong math, measurement, and problem-solving skills. Experience with CNC programming or G-code (a plus). Ability to work independently and ensure high-quality output. Candidate must have your own basic Machinist tools and gages.
