Summary:
The Machinist II position involves setting up and operating conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. The role requires interpreting technical drawings, performing precise measurements, and ensuring all machining processes meet quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining.

  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cuts.

  • Enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media (CNC).

  • Start and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or programs as needed.

  • Verify finished workpiece conformance to specifications.

  • Perform trial runs to verify machine settings or programmed control data accuracy.

  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or Technical School Certificate.

  • One to two years of related experience required.

  • Minimum two years of experience and/or demonstrated mastery as a Machinist I required for advancement to the Machinist II position.

  • Ability to follow safety protocols, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in mathematics as it relates to machining operations.

  • Experience with CNC, 3 & 4-axis lathes, 4-axis vertical machining centers, and horizontal machining centers.

  • Proficiency in G-code programming and/or Mazatrol conversational programs.

  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, thread gauges, and depth micrometers.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Experienced in tool changes, offsets, and setups.



Pay Details: $20.00 to $28.00 per hour
