We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will specialize in the maintenance and repair of up to 5-axis CNC machines and will be proficient in troubleshooting electrical issues. The role requires a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure minimal downtime and optimum machine performance.
Essential Functions:
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on all CNC machines to ensure reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues on CNC equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including motors, sensors, drives, encoders, electrical panels, hydraulic pumps, and pneumatic actuators.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic to diagnose faults.
- Work closely with CNC operators, production supervisors, and electricians to ensure machines are running efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections of machine components (spindle, linear guides, ball screws, way covers, lubrication systems, etc.).
- Calibrate and fine-tune machine parameters to maintain precision.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inventory of parts.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new CNC machines and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company procedures during maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Collaborate with external service providers for specialized machine repairs or parts.
- Stay current with industry advancements, machine updates, and best maintenance practices.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven experience as a CNC Maintenance Technician, preferably with 5-axis CNC machines.
- Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting (motors, drives, PLCs, control panels).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and machine manuals.
- Familiarity with machine controls (e.g., C.R. Osurd, Laguna, or similar).
- Experience with preventative maintenance and machine calibration.
- Ability to work with hand tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related machine issues.
- Certification in CNC machinery or electrical maintenance is a plus.
